Review: Mike Mandel Hypnosis Academy

By | Hypnosis, Hypnotherapy, Therapy | No Comments

Review: Mike Mandel Hypnosis Academy Online Training; well considered or money spinner? Many online hypnosis training platforms fall woefully short of where they need to be. I’ve been fortunate enough to have had the opportunity to experience several over the years and while there are some nuggets of gold, it can often feel more like a passive revenue generator over a well considered and executed training program. With that in mind, I have to admit that it has become harder for me over the years to give a real endorsement unless I can genuinely see how there is the value being given for the asking price. With that rather dramatic opening out of the way, let me tell you about how I came to stumble across the Mike Mandel Hypnosis Academy. I had said ‘no more training programs’ last year… I’ve been on Mike’s mailing list for some time now and I’ve also enjoyed tuning in to his Brain Software Hypnosis podcast that he produces with his business partner Chris Thompson. Mike is certainly one of those industry figures who has been around for some time and built a solid reputation out there as a result of his gifted work….

The Facts About Anxiety and Hypnotherapy

By | Anxiety, Hypnosis, Hypnotherapy | No Comments

The Facts About Anxiety and Hypnotherapy Anxiety, Sabre Tooth Tigers and Smoke Alarms We all have experienced anxiety at some times in our lives. You might have to get up and do a speech and you can feel that nervous energy racing through the body. You might even find that you’re incapable of stopping your mind from telling you about how bad it is going to go and how everyone is going to think you’re an idiot. You’re convinced that you’re going to ‘stuff it up’, only to find that everything turns out to actually go fine. Yet, while you were busy imagining the worst case scenario, your mind-body connection ensured that your body responded in that moment as if the threat was real. In many ways, your mind allowed you to ‘time travel’ into the future, to creatively imagine the worst possible scenario in a way that was so convincing, you believed it to have really happened. In short, your anxiety hypnotised you. Anxiety is a normal part of life though. It is part of the ‘fight or flight’ response that has been hard-wired into our system since the time of primitive man. Look at it this way; back…

It’s Time To Manage My Weight Again…

By | Addiction, Habits, Hypnosis, Hypnotherapy, Mindful Eating, Mindfulness, Weight Management | No Comments

It’s Time To Manage My Weight Again Weight Management has always been an important topic to me. When I first started up the Release Hypnosis website a couple of years back, the first blog that I wrote looked at how I lost my weight and how I managed to keep it off. Realistically, I’ve been fairly successful at keeping it off over that time too and I can confidently say that I’ve managed to avoid becoming as heavy as I was then again. Then again, we are always constantly in changing situations and, with that, we can often find that old habits can resurface if we don’t bring an awareness to them. Over the past few months, my weight has begun to creep back on. I’m sure we’re all familiar with that feeling of stepping out of the shower, seeing ourselves in the mirror and feeling like we’re not being the best version of ourselves that we can be. This week, I’m making a change. I’m going back to basics. I’m stepping in on my habits now and making changes before I find myself in a state that makes me feel disappointed with myself, robs me of my self-esteem and…

Book Review: The Holistic Guide to Hypnotherapy

By | Hypnosis, Hypnotherapy, NLP, Self Hypnosis, Weight Management | No Comments

Book Review: The Holistic Guide to Hypnotherapy Steve Webster On the cover of ‘The Holistic Guide to Hypnotherapy’ is a star burst graphic that proclaims proudly, ‘The Hypnotherapy Bible!’ It isn’t wrong. You would be hard pressed to find something that is more thoroughly researched and compiled, and that manages to cover so many topics even just in Volume 1. At 863 pages in length, you can’t say that Steve Webster skimps on any details. What I loved about this text is that it is literally crammed full of golden nuggets of tips, techniques, and insight. You can tell that Steve is very passionate about the world of hypnotherapy and the level of depth that he goes into on many of the topics presented in the book really highlights that. Take for instance the topic of inductions. This is potentially one of the most comprehensive and thorough texts on inductions that I’ve come across to date. Not only does he go into detail about inductions themselves but also about how to access what kind of client you have in front of you and what kind of induction is going to best work with that type of client. While heavily influenced…

Hypnosis May Still Be Veiled In Mystery – But We Are Starting To Uncover Its Scientific Basis

By | Hypnosis, Hypnotherapy | No Comments

Hypnosis may still be veiled in mystery – but we are starting to uncover its scientific basis Devin Terhune, Goldsmiths, University of London and Steven Jay Lynn, Binghamton University, State University of New York Some argue that hypnosis is just a trick. Others, however, see it as bordering on the paranormal – mysteriously transforming people into mindless robots. Now our recent review of a number of research studies on the topic reveals it is actually neither. Hypnosis may just be an aspect of normal human behaviour. Hypnosis refers to a set of procedures involving an induction – which could be fixating on an object, relaxing or actively imagining something – followed by one or more suggestions, such as “You will be completely unable to feel your left arm”. The purpose of the induction is to induce a mental state in which participants are focused on instructions from the experimenter or therapist, and are not distracted by everyday concerns. One reason why hypnosis is of interest to scientists is that participants often report that their responses feel automatic or outside their control. Most inductions produce equivalent effects. But inductions aren’t actually that important. Surprisingly, the success of hypnosis doesn’t rely on…
