Book Review: The Holistic Guide to Hypnotherapy Steve Webster On the cover of ‘The Holistic Guide to Hypnotherapy’ is a star burst graphic that proclaims proudly, ‘The Hypnotherapy Bible!’ It isn’t wrong. You would be hard pressed to find something that is more thoroughly researched and compiled, and that manages to cover so many topics even just in Volume 1. At 863 pages in length, you can’t say that Steve Webster skimps on any details. What I loved about this text is that it is literally crammed full of golden nuggets of tips, techniques, and insight. You can tell that Steve is very passionate about the world of hypnotherapy and the level of depth that he goes into on many of the topics presented in the book really highlights that. Take for instance the topic of inductions. This is potentially one of the most comprehensive and thorough texts on inductions that I’ve come across to date. Not only does he go into detail about inductions themselves but also about how to access what kind of client you have in front of you and what kind of induction is going to best work with that type of client. While heavily influenced…

Book Review: Conversational Regression

By | Counselling, Hypnosis, Hypnotherapy, NLP, Regression | No Comments

Book Review: Conversational Regression By Jess Marion I have, to be honest, I accidentally bought this book. It’s this thing with Kindle where, if you choose a sample of the book, the first option when you go to relocate the file is to buy it instead of moving it. Long story short, this book came into my possession via a ‘wrong click’ however it is one wrong click that I am extremely grateful for as ‘Conversational Regression’ delivers and then some. I think back to my time studying Regression and, while no reflection on the Academy who I trained with, felt that we were often given some good tools about how to regress someone back however it kind of felt like it ended there, often with no real idea about what to do once we got to the initial sensitising event. Over time, I’ve learned a handful of different techniques to help at this point however I almost wish I had discovered this book earlier as it covers everything in such wonderful detail. Not only do we look at what the steps are for those who like to be told things in steps, we go into detail about why each…

Tips To Deal With Anxiety

By | ACT, Anxiety | No Comments

Tips To Deal With Anxiety Or… a review of ‘The Anti-anxiety Toolkit’ by Melissa Tiers I can’t remember exactly when I first began to feel really intense anxiety. I recall thinking that it started very early on when I believed it was a phobia to blood. Many years ago, when I was a child, I passed out after witnessing my brother coming home from a dental procedure and literally recovering on the couch, spewing up mouthfuls of blood. I had gone to the kitchen to make myself a glass of Tang and, next thing I know, I was being awoken with my family surrounding me. I had put my tooth through my lip and ended up back on the chair nursing my own wound. After that, I had always thought the sight of blood would make me pass out and, frequently, it did. Understandably, I had associated the two but as time went on, it became obvious that it wasn’t as literal as what I thought it had all been. Over time, it began to morph and sometimes I would find that I would begin to experience this feeling of anxiety in my body before it translated to the mind…
