How To Get The Best From Your Online Hypnotherapy Session
During the COVID-19 crisis, it is understandable that the safety of everyone through social distancing and innovative use of technology is paramount.
As a result of this, Release Hypnosis has stopped seeing clients face to face for the time being and moved all the client sessions to either online or over the phone.
While many may have had an initial reluctance to this, they’ve quickly come to recognise many of the benefits that this transition has offered.
The two most notable of these is that there is no travel time and traffic to contend with, as well as allowing yourself the ability to feel more relaxed as you do the session in the comfort of your own home.
Here are a few pointers that will help you to get the best out of your online hypnotherapy session.
1. Ensure you have a suitable space where you can relax and not be disturbed during your hypnosis session
During self-isolation, some times trying to find a spot where you can remain undisturbed can be a challenge.
Your session is likely to go for somewhere between one hour to an hour and a half.
In chatting with others, some have incorporated a ‘traffic light’ system which they place on the door to their room. Red means absolutely do not disturb. Amber is permission to disturb if it is important. Green is that you’re available to speak. Implementing this on your bedroom or study prior to your session will give a clear indication as to your availability during our time together.
If this isn’t ideal, then some have found doing the session in their car a good backup plan. You can sit in the front seat and recline your seat back during the hypnotherapy portion of the session.
2. Take a moment to be aware of the conference software prior to the hypnotherapy session
When you confirm your session with Release Hypnosis, you’ll be provided with a URL and password for your session.
If you’re using a desktop or laptop computer, simply click on the URL and enter the password if it is requested. Once inside the session window, you can find your microphone and camera controls to the bottom left-hand side as you move your cursor in that direction.
If you’re using a smart phone or tablet, we may request that you download the Zoom app and enter the meeting number and password.
If you have an objection to Zoom, raise this and you’ll be provided with an alternative platform to suit your needs.
3. Ensure you can be seen and heard
While it is far more important for you to be able to see and hear your therapist, there will be times during the session where they may need to see you.
If you’re in the car, you can rest the phone against the steering wheel as you recline in your seat.
If you’re in the privacy of a room at home, use a glass or an old tissue box is going to be able to hold your phone so that you won’t need to for the entire session.
4. What if the internet connection drops out during the hypnosis session?
Unfortunately, technology is always going to be outside of our control and if you’re using your phone, you may be with a provider who has a blackspot in your area.
Where possible, it is always going to be preferred that you attend the session in front of a device that has a reliable internet connection.
In the unlikely event that your session is interrupted midway through, depending on where the interruption occurred, your therapist will either attempt to call you back or will have given suggestions prior to the hypnosis that you will simply return comfortably to the room when you’re ready.
Issues with online sessions happen infrequently at best, and many have found that their sessions online are proving to be equally, if not more, effective than face to face.
